Clicking Editor tag multiple times produces nil object

I use an editor tag on a show page (i.e. editor:project_status/). If I select it once to change its value, it works fine. However if I select it a second time it pops up a debug page (produces the error shown below) and hangs.
NoMethodError (You have a nil object when you didn't expect
it!
