Edit button remains after removing update permission

My model has:
auto_actions :all, :except => [:index, :update]
Problem is, its Show page still contains an Edit Model link. When I click on the link, I get an empty Edit page -- the only thing on it is the Remove This Model button.
I would have expected the Edit Model button to not show up and (assuming the :destroy action is allowed) the Delete Model button to show up in its place. Or something like that.

I think you should remove the edit action as well as the update action in this case. It doesn't make much sense to have edit but not update.
Good idea about the delete button on the show-page - I'll make a separate ticket for that
