I've started to look into this. The code for handling gem dependencies that made it into 2.1.0 has some serious issues (doesn't obey RAILS_GEM_VERSION, unpacks rake, other weird stuff). Tickets for rails-core are in progress.
Should otherwise be straightforward - just add a config.gem 'hobo' to environment.rb in the Hobo generator.
