    As I recall, this was originally added to allow Hobo pages to be valid XHTML (the Rails helpers put [] in the id for some fields, which isn't valid). Is that issue still relevant?

    Matt - that's right. So by default Hobo is now giving invalid IDs on input tags just as Rails does. We decided that changing the IDs was a bit of a dangerous departure from Rails and may break a lot of JavaScript code out there. So people will now have to fix this up in their app if validity is very important.

    We'll probably revisit this again before 1.0. My hope is that Rails fixes the problem. In fact I'm sure I saw somewhere that it had been fixed but looking at the source that doesn't seem to be true.
