Hobo should be compatible with JRuby
Reported by Owen | August 4th, 2008 @ 07:35 PM | in Hobo 1.0 - Final
Not sure there should be an issue, but we at Barquin can take the lead for testing.
Oracle has let in Ruby/Rails (see link above) via running on a JVM via JRuby.
For 1.0?

I would love to see Hobo compatible with jRuby. In particular I have a couple of projects coming up where I want to use a graph database and I'm looking at neo4j and neo4j.rb. These require me to use jRuby which, for now at least, seems to mean that I can't use Hobo. :-(
Please, please try and get it into v1.1.

Hi Pete
You can definitely use Hobo with jruby. There are a couple of pitfalls
but people have figured out the solutions. Search the hobousers group
for more info. -

Excellent, I'll give it a go.

I'm realising this ticket is kind of confusing, as it's open but the comment trail says it works. So just to clarify, Hobo doesn't work out of the box right now with JRuby and it should. But those with a little tenacity can definitely get it to work, and the hints can be found in the hobousers group archive.

Note that virtually all of the differences are for running Hobo under a Java web server. The changes necessary to run a jruby webrick are quite small. On github.com/tablatom/agility the differences between the rails-2.3 branch and the jruby branch are quite minimal. The biggest difference is in the config/database.yml file: http://github.com/tablatom/agility/commit/9dc0e2219762a8012accb0871...
