filter-menu does not properly determine current selection

(I think this is the bug described in http://groups.google.com/group/hobousers/browse_thread/thread/1fd56..., although I haven't verified it).
if you pass an array of pairs or a hash to filter-menu in the options attr, it does not select the current selection.
